A desk for the room you actually have

We measured 212 spare rooms before drawing the Fernhill Studio desk. It ended up 20 cm smaller than we planned, and better for it.

Most desks are designed for offices and then sold to homes. We went the other way. Over the winter of 2025 our team visited 212 spare rooms, box rooms and bedroom corners in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, and measured each one before drawing anything.

Two numbers came back again and again: 130 cm of usable wall, and a door that opens inwards. So the Studio desk is 120 cm wide and 60 cm deep, with its legs set back 8 cm so a chair slides fully under it and the door still clears.

It arrives flat in one box that fits in a small lift, and goes together with one Allen key in about 20 minutes. Read the full design notes.
